In Phoenix, spring comes early—no matter what the groundhog says. So while the rest of the country is bundled up, waiting for the snow to melt, we can start getting ourselves and our homes ready for spring.
Here are some quick ways to make your home feel like spring.
Add greenery.
Plants and flowers add a little “spring” to any home. Living plants are always great, but fake plants do the trick in a pinch. Adding some fresh flowers and a plant or two to your home (even if it’s a Phoenix-friendly cactus) will have your house feeling like spring in no time.
Declutter.
Nothing says a fresh start like a clutter-free space. Pick an area in your home that always seems to be cluttered (kitchen countertop, desk, junk drawer, or all of the above) and take some time figuring out how to make that space work better for your home. Get rid of the junk and breathe a sigh of relief.
Deep clean.
A good “spring cleaning” will keep your house feeling fresh. If you’re not up for cleaning your entire house, focus on a single room or closet that could use a good, deep clean. Or do one job that seems to get neglected for the rest of the year (for example: clean the blinds, dust the ceiling fans, wash the windows, or scrub the baseboards). Even tackling one or two spring cleaning projects will make a big difference in your home.
Minimalize.
Spring brings to mind clean slates and new beginnings. A minimalist home reflects those feelings as well. Clear out any old or excess furniture, pare down your wardrobe, or get rid of those kitchen gadgets you never use. You’ll be left with plenty of room to breathe. (Psst! If you can’t quite bring yourself to get rid of it all, at least put it in storage for a little while!)
Bring in a fresh scent.
Don’t underestimate the power of smell! A clean smell will make an impression from the second you walk in the door. Good-smelling cleaning supplies will help, for sure, but candles, wax melts, or other air fresheners help, too.
Get some new decor.
Making small changes in your home, whether it’s a some new throw pillows, a new piece of artwork for your wall, or a nice centerpiece for your kitchen table, can help your home feel fresh and updated. When decorating for spring, think light colors and clean textures. The great thing about this tip is you can do as much, or as little, as you want.
None of these tasks will take very long, but they will all bring the feeling of spring into your home. Get ready for a home that looks and feels like a fresh start!
